Mbps and MB/s are not the same

Internet plans usually advertise megabits per second, while files are measured in megabytes or gigabytes. Eight bits make one byte, so 80 Mbps has a theoretical maximum near 10 MB/s.

Real downloads include overhead

Protocol overhead, server limits, congestion, signal changes and other devices reduce usable throughput. The practical estimate adds a margin rather than promising the theoretical minimum.

Large mobile downloads can change networks

A phone may switch between 5G, LTE and Wi-Fi during a transfer. Recalculate with the slower sustained rate when you need a conservative estimate.
